Through Rio Tinto’s partnership with Chandler Macleod, we are seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters for fixed plant maintenance opportunities across Rio Tinto’s Gladstone operations, primarily at Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL), with opportunities at Yarwun also available.
These opportunities are ideal for qualified Mechanical Fitters / Fitters & Turners with proven experience maintaining fixed plant and heavy industrial equipment. You will be responsible for supporting the safe and reliable operation of fixed plant through planned and breakdown maintenance, fault finding, mechanical repairs and servicing.
These Gladstone-based roles are open to candidates who live in Gladstone or the surrounding areas. We have a range of short-term and longer-term opportunities, with roster arrangements varying depending on the position. Rosters may include lifestyle rosters covering days, nights and weekends, as well as Monday–Friday day shift opportunities.
Reporting to the Supervisor and working in a collaborative and exciting environment, you will:
- Complete breakdown maintenance and fault finding on fixed plant
- Complete preventative and planned maintenance activities
- Undertake mechanical repairs and servicing of fixed plant and equipment
- Work on equipment including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, motors and associated fixed plant
- Contribute to reliable production outcomes
- Work safely within Rio Tinto procedures
- Previous mining or heavy industry experience
- Commitment to work the rostered shifts
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Dedication to everyone’s safety
- Current C Class manual drivers’ license
- Relevant trade qualifications and certificates
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and other testing
