Australia's 2025 TIARA Award Winner for RPO/MSP Company of the Year

Winning the 2025 TIARA Award for RPO/MSP/Talent Solutions Company of the Year means our clients benefit from industry-recognised expertise: AI-powered hiring tools, faster time to fill, lower cost per hire, and compliance standards that meet government procurement requirements.

What is RPO and How Does It Work?

Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) means engaging a specialist provider to design, manage, and continuously improve your entire hiring function, or specific parts of it.

Unlike traditional recruitment agencies that fill individual roles, an RPO partner embeds within your organisation, applies technology and data, and is accountable for hiring outcomes over time.

Chandler Macleod's RPO model flexes across full-cycle recruitment, project hiring, volume campaigns, and on-demand recruiter deployment.

RPO Models: Project, Selective, Recruiter on Demand, and Contingent

An effective model when your internal team handles day-to-day hiring, but you need full-cycle recruitment support for a specific initiative or time-bound project.

We help with:

  • Addressing short-term hiring surges and blacklogs
  • Benchmarking recruitment performance and process maturity
  • Transforming recruitment operations to improve outcomes and efficiency

Case example: A 12-month project with a State Government department facing high attrition and critical talent shortages. Chandler Macleod sourced more than 50 specialist community practitioners through targeted national and international search, supported by behavioural assessments that ensured long-term fit.

Also known as unbundled recruitment, this model is ideal for organisations wanting to outsource specific talent segments or workforce levels while retaining control over strategic or executive hiring.

We help with:

  • Targeted campaign management for select roles or regions
  • Role-specific expertise across volume and hard-to-fill positions
  • Freeing internal teams to focus on strategic and higher-impact hiring
  • Supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and market-entry initiatives

Case example: Partnering with Beon Energy to launch Australia’s first Women in Solar program, Chandler Macleod sourced, trained and placed 12 women in skilled solar farm roles, including Indigenous and long-term unemployed participants.

Instant access to experienced recruitment capability without major process changes or technology setup.

We provide:

  • On‑site and virtual recruiters ready for immediate deployment
  • Flexible scaling, up or down, as business needs evolve
  • Short-term, effective engagement, at lower cost than agency models
  • Specialist recruiters backed by Chandler Macleod’s proven methodology

Case example: For a major transport provider, Chandler Macleod deployed on-demand rail and infrastructure teams across NSW, scaling up to 160+ workers during peak periods and maintaining 100% KPI compliance  over 36 months.

A flexible solution for high-volume contractor recruitment, where Chandler Macleod manages sourcing, onboarding and ongoing administration of contingent talent.

We help with:

  • Sourcing, screening and deploying contingent workers
  • Workforce scaling for project-based or seasonal demand
  • Consolidating suppliers and improving contractor quality
  • Ensuring compliance, onboarding, and timesheet management

RPO Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between RPO and an MSP?

RPO (Recruitment Process Outsourcing) focuses on permanent hiring: the RPO provider designs and manages your end-to-end process for finding and hiring full-time employees. MSP (Managed Service Provider) focuses on your contingent workforce, managing labour hire suppliers, contractor compliance, and timesheet administration. If your challenge involves both permanent and contingent hiring, Chandler Macleod offers hybrid RPO and MSP models, or a Total Talent approach that integrates both.

  • What’s the difference between RPO and traditional recruitment?

A traditional recruitment agency fills individual roles on a transactional basis, typically charging a fee per placement. An RPO provider embeds within your organisation, takes ownership of the full hiring function or a defined segment of it, applies technology and data analytics, and is accountable for ongoing outcomes such as time to fill, cost per hire, and quality of hire. The relationship is a partnership, not a transaction.

  • How is RPO priced?

RPO pricing varies by scope and model. Project RPO is typically priced as a fixed-fee arrangement for a defined timeframe. Enterprise or full-cycle RPO is usually priced as a management fee plus cost-per-hire, reducing unit costs as volume scales. Recruiter on Demand arrangements are priced per recruiter per month. Chandler Macleod provides tailored commercial models aligned to your specific hiring volume and requirements.

  • Can you work alongside our internal team?

Yes. Many RPO engagements involve Chandler Macleod operating as an extension of an existing internal TA function rather than replacing it. We can take ownership of specific segments, such as volume hiring, hard-to-fill roles, or a particular business unit, while your internal team retains responsibility for strategic or executive hiring.

  • Do you support ATS and HR technology integration?

Yes. Chandler Macleod's delivery teams are experienced across all major Applicant Tracking Systems, CRM platforms, and HRIS tools. We provide setup, configuration, and optimisation support and can work within your existing technology environment without requiring you to change platforms.
