About the Opportunity

Through Rio Tinto's partnership with Chandler Macleod, we are seeking an experienced Laboratory Operator for the Cape Lambert Laboratory team, providing CLAHDO backfill coverage.
This is a great opportunity to join a safety-focused team working on site with Rio Tinto. You'll work alongside experienced crews, supporting day-to-day operations while contributing to safe and reliable outcomes.
Reporting to the Supervisor your responsibilities will include:
- Collecting, preparing and dispatching plant and shipping samples to required quality standards.
- Conducting equipment checks and PMO1 inspections, and raising defect notifications as required.
- Maintaining and monitoring sample stations to ensure operational readiness.
- Managing laboratory consumables.
- Accurately recording data and communicating progress to supervisors.
- Collaborating with supervisors, technicians and team members to support safe and efficient operations.
About You
- Previous experience in a laboratory, fixed plant or mining environment.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset.
- Hold a C class drivers license
- Forklift licence (desirable)
- Experience with systems such as STARLIMS, SAP, Paperless Maintainer, FDMS, TIKS, SuperQ and ChemAlert. (Desirable)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Dedication to everyone's safety
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and other testing
