Background

Since 2007 Chandler Macleod has been engaged in flexible RPO services by one of the largest departments in the Australian Public Service (APS), employing approximately 20,000 staff in a wide variety of roles. Chandler Macleod have also provided MSP style delivery of contingent workforces during peak periods allowing the organisation to flex its capability to address fluctuating market demands. Recent permanent role demands have seen Chandler Macleod assisting with volume and project-based recruitment ranging from APS1 to SES roles across multiple divisions. 

Solutions


Applications were configured and received through the department’s HireRoad eRecruit ATS. Chandler Macleod administered end-to-end processes involving:

  • Creation of job/program-specific microsites 
  • Application screening
  • Online assessments
  • Telephone or video interviews
  • Fulfilment within 12-16 week timeframe

Many projects have included a separate diversity project to improve recruitment and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates as well as refugee/humanitarian recruitment for candidates with adverse backgrounds.


Recent projects with the department include 2024 Graduate and Australian Government HR Graduate recruitment, the recruitment of year 12 school leavers to assist candidates who are at the beginning of their careers, the bulk recruitment of SES level staff, as well as the recruitment and career mentoring and coaching of refugee/humanitarian candidates. Chandler Macleod have also introduced advanced assessment tools including virtual assessment centres as well as AI-driven assessments and CV screening.
