About the Opportunity

Through Rio Tinto’s partnership with Chandler Macleod, we are seeking an experienced Project Planner to join the Project Controls team. This role is responsible for supporting the planning, scheduling and reporting of projects across a diverse portfolio, ensuring project schedules are accurate, integrated and aligned with delivery objectives. Based in Central Park, Perth, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with project teams and key stakeholders while conducting periodic site visits to Rio Tinto operations in the Pilbara.

About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Project Controls and working in a challenging and collaborative environment, you will:
  • Develop and maintain project schedules in Primavera P6 in line with project phase maturity requirements
  • Produce and maintain Basis of Schedule documentation
  • Analyse project schedules and provide technical planning insights to stakeholders
  • Review and assess contractor schedules using industry-standard planning techniques
  • Conduct site visits to validate progress, forecast completion dates and review construction sequencing
  • Establish and maintain agreed project baselines for project control and reporting purposes
  • Review contractor progress measurement methodologies and assess suitability
  • Produce productivity and performance reports, identifying causes for schedule variations
  • Monitor schedule compliance against project controls requirements
  • Assess project performance trends and forecast completion outcomes
  • Ensure schedules remain aligned with project estimates, contingency allowances and scope growth
  • Foster strong relationships across delivery, planning, estimating, cost and contracts teams
  • Support the integrity of integrated project controls reporting
  • Provide technical planning support to project stakeholders
  • Promote compliance with standardised project controls processes, systems and tools
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Demonstrated experience as a Project Planner within mining, infrastructure, construction or major projects environments
  • Strong working knowledge of project scheduling methodologies and schedule management practices
  • Advanced experience using Primavera P6
  • The ability to work autonomously and adapt within a fast-paced project environment
  • Experience working to tight reporting deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively across multiple teams
  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement
