About the Opportunity

Through Rio Tinto’s partnership with Chandler Macleod, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the Finance Digital team.

Entering the project during mid-build, you will project manage the completion of an MVP build, testing and rollout of Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s new cost management and forecasting tooling to the Finance and Cost Leader communities across Iron Ore.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mobilise and lead the MVP from initiation through to evaluation, maintaining clear scope, deliverables, success criteria, plans, schedules and milestones.
  • Coordinate technology teams, vendors, site representatives and corporate functions to keep delivery progressing safely, on time and within budget.
  • Manage vendor performance, integration activities, site implementation readiness and dependencies across cyber, network, systems integration and operational teams.
  • Establish and maintain project controls, including risks, issues, decisions, actions and appropriate governance and compliance requirements.
  • Define measurable MVP evaluation criteria and success metrics, and ensure issues are surfaced early and resolved decisively.
  • Manage the approved budget, forecasting and spend, and support preparation of a robust business case for potential broader deployment.
  • Provide clear and transparent reporting to Steering Committees and senior leaders on progress, risks, decisions required and readiness for future deployment.
  • Drive alignment across operational, safety, digital, technical and corporate stakeholders and produce a clear, evidence-based recommendation on next steps.

To be successful in this role, you encompass;
  • Experience delivering technology-enabled projects in operational or industrial environments.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and complex dependencies.
  • Strong project planning, scheduling, budget management, governance and reporting capability.
  • Experience reporting to steering committees or executive governance forums.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity, surface risks early and drive outcomes in an evolving environment.
  • Experience delivering an MVP or pilot and assessing readiness to transition toward scale will be highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with enterprise technology integration will be highly regarded.
  • Experience working with SAP Analytic Cloud (SAC) will be highly regarded.
