About the Opportunity

Through Rio Tinto's partnership with Chandler Macleod, we are seeking an experienced Operator Scraper for the Andoom and Amrun Site.
This is a great opportunity to join a safety-focused team working on site with Rio Tinto. You'll work alongside experienced crews, supporting day-to-day operations while contributing to safe and reliable outcomes.
Reporting to the Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
- Operating scraper machinery to extract and transport materials efficiently
- Performing routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Supporting safety protocols and participating in safety meetings
- Collaborating with team members to optimize workflow
- Ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations
- Proven experience operating scraper machinery or similar heavy equipment
- Industry experience in mining, construction, or related fields
- Relevant qualifications/license in heavy machinery operation (if applicable)
- Strong technical capability
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Dedication to safety and quality standards
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and other testing
- Eligible new hires can receive up to $1,500, paid as $500 following the completion of the 1st, 2nd, and 4th roster cycles. Existing workers, internal transfers, and redeployments are not eligible.
- Existing operators on Weipa Self Perform Projects can refer candidates into eligible vacancies. The referral bonus is up to $1,500 – $500 once the referred operator completes their 2nd roster cycle and $1,000 if they remain employed through practical completion in May 2027. Both parties must remain actively employed at the applicable milestone.
