About the Opportunity

Through Rio Tinto’s partnership with Chandler Macleod, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintainer to join our team at Dampier ports working a 5/5/4 roster with a mix of days and nights. The purpose of this role will be to provide a safe and efficient facility through the execution of mechanical fault finding, planned and opportune maintenance. This is a residential role only (Must live in Karratha or Dampier).
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and working in a collaborative community, the role will require you to:
- Complete preventative/corrective/planned /operational maintenance for all equipment in the fixed plant area, including but not limited to, conveyors, balanced machines, car dumpers
- Conduct routine inspections of all fixed plant assets
- Maintain a high level of safety awareness and comply with company policies and procedures
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement projects by increasing safety whilst reducing risk and cost
- Utilise SAP to ensure that maintenance tasks are recorded, assigned correctly and completed to the relevant standard / specification
- Isolate equipment for maintenance and operational tasks
- Work safely within Rio Tinto procedures
- A Mechanical Engineering/Fitting/Fabrication Trade Qualification
- Experience working on the following equipment: car dumpers, stackers, reclaimers and ship loaders
- Proficiency in motor/gearbox, Pulley and Bucketwheel changeouts, Laser Alignment, Dogging experience and Rigging experience as well as ability to conduct high quality maintenance inspections.
- Able to work a varied swing with a mix of days and nights
- Previous mining or heavy industry experience
- Commitment to work the rostered shifts
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Dedication to everyone’s safety
- Current C Class manual drivers’ license (HR desirable)
- Relevant trade qualifications and certificates (Working at Heights and confined spaces)
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and other testing
