ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Chandler Macleod is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a growing mining equipment business based in Rutherford, in the Newcastle/Hunter region.
This is an opportunity to work on electric and mechanical drive off-highway mining trucks, helping turn engineering designs into practical solutions for demanding operating environments.
Working alongside experienced engineers and colleagues in China, you’ll contribute across the equipment lifecycle—from design and development through to prototype builds, commissioning, testing and ongoing improvements.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Develop mechanical designs across chassis, suspension, drivetrain, cooling systems and structural assemblies.
• Produce 3D models, engineering drawings, specifications and bills of materials.
• Carry out engineering calculations and support structural, fatigue and thermal analysis.
• Assist with prototype builds, inspections, commissioning and field testing.
• Investigate technical issues and improve equipment reliability, safety and serviceability.
• Collaborate with electrical, hydraulic, manufacturing, service and supplier teams.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
• You’ll hold a qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with practical engineering experience and confidence using 3D CAD software.
• Experience in heavy equipment, mining, automotive or industrial manufacturing will be highly regarded. You’ll also bring sound mechanical design knowledge, practical problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach
• Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential, as the role involves regular technical collaboration with engineering colleagues in China.
• Project management and commercial tender experience would be an advantage.
