We are seeking an experienced legal leader to join a Queensland Government organisation in a pivotal leadership capacity. This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior legal professional to lead a dedicated legal services function while providing strategic advice to executive stakeholders within a complex regulatory environment. Reporting directly to the organisation's most senior executive and forming part of the Executive Leadership Team, you will play a key role in supporting organisational governance, regulatory decision-making and strategic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Legal Services function.
- Provide expert legal advice to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
- Manage complex legal matters across regulatory, administrative, governance and employment law.
- Oversee litigation, disciplinary proceedings, tribunal matters and external legal providers.
- Ensure compliance with legislative and governance requirements.
- Develop legal strategies that support organisational objectives and risk management.
- Lead, mentor and develop legal team members.
- Contribute to executive-level planning, governance and decision-making.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Admission as a legal practitioner in Australia.
- Significant post-admission experience, ideally 10+ years.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within government, regulatory, legal or highly regulated environments.
- Strong expertise in administrative law, governance, compliance, investigations and litigation.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience providing strategic legal advice to senior executives and decision-makers.
- The ability to balance legal risk with practical business outcomes.
