About the Role As an APS6 Design Strategist, you will undertake complex strategic, policy, and project-related work within a dynamic government environment. Working under limited direction, you will provide expert advice, lead project activities, conduct research and analysis, and contribute to policy development, workforce planning, and organisational initiatives.
You will play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making through evidence-based recommendations, stakeholder engagement, project governance, and high-quality written documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, governance activities, and reporting.
- Conduct complex research, investigations, and analysis to inform strategic decisions.
- Prepare executive briefs, business cases, reports, discussion papers, and other corporate documentation.
- Coordinate project reporting, status updates, and exception reporting.
- Monitor project budgets, expenditure, procurement activities, and contract management processes.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, and benefits.
- Provide specialist advice and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support policy development, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Experience within strategy, policy, program, or project management environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret complex information.
- Excellent written communication skills, including preparation of executive and policy documentation.
- Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management experience.
- Ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgement, and manage competing priorities.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within government, disability, health, or human services sectors.
- Knowledge of strategic planning, workforce planning, procurement, and contract management.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in policy, business, project management, public administration, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in policy, strategy, or related roles.
