About the Opportunity

Rio Tinto is a global mining and materials company, focused on finding, mining and processing the resources the world needs. Through Chandler Macleod's partnership with Rio Tinto, we are seeking experienced Data Analysts to support several business-critical transformation initiatives across Iron Ore operations.

Working within a collaborative Improvement & Technology environment, you will help drive better asset management outcomes through data-driven insights and analytics. The role will focus on analysing operational and maintenance data, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting initiatives that improve equipment reliability, reduce waste, and optimise maintenance performance.

This position would suit someone with experience working with asset management, maintenance, reliability, mining, resources, manufacturing, or heavy industry datasets who enjoys turning complex information into actionable business insights.

Reporting to the Principal Asset, Data & Systems and working closely with operational stakeholders, you will:

  • Analyse asset management and maintenance datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and performance improvements
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
  • Extract, transform, and analyse data using SQL
  • Work with SAP asset management and maintenance data to support business decision-making
  • Support initiatives focused on reducing tool time for fixed plant and mobile equipment maintenance activities
  • Analyse inventory and spare parts data to identify wastage reduction opportunities
  • Provide insights to improve asset health, equipment reliability, and maintenance effectiveness
  • Collaborate with operational, maintenance, and asset management stakeholders to understand business requirements
  • Support the delivery of transformation and continuous improvement projects across Iron Ore operations
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and reporting standards are maintained

About You
  • Experience working with asset management, maintenance, reliability, operational, or business performance data
  • Advanced Power BI reporting and dashboard development skills
  • Strong SQL querying and data analysis experience
  • Experience working with SAP data, ideally within asset management or maintenance environments
  • Knowledge of database structures and data management principles
  • Ability to communicate insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Experience within mining, resources, heavy industry, utilities, manufacturing, or similar operational environments

Highly Regarded
  • Exposure to Databricks environments
  • Experience with Python, R, or other programming languages
