We are seeking an experienced Branch Manager to take overall responsibility for a large and established distribution operation in Canberra.
This is a senior leadership position with responsibility across sales, operations, transport, warehouse, administration and customer service, with a strong focus on branch profitability, customer service and team performance.
Reporting to senior management, you'll lead a team of approximately 50–60 employees and work closely with an experienced leadership group across the branch.
This is an opportunity for a confident and commercially minded leader to take ownership of an established operation, drive performance and identify opportunities to improve the way the business operates.
About the Role
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading the day-to-day operations of the branch across sales, warehouse, transport and administration.
- Delivering budgeted EBIT, revenue and profitability targets.
- Managing branch budgets, forecasts, costs and financial performance.
- Analysing P&L results and operational KPIs and taking corrective action where required.
- Leading and developing a team of approximately 50–60 employees.
- Driving customer growth, retention and service excellence.
- Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Managing inventory and ensuring customer demand is supported effectively.
- Identifying new business opportunities and opportunities for growth.
- Improving productivity, processes and operational efficiency.
- Ensuring high standards of WHS, food safety, HACCP and Chain of Responsibility compliance.
- Creating a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Making timely decisions and providing clear direction across the branch.
We're looking for an experienced operational leader who combines commercial understanding with strong people and operational leadership.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Branch Manager, Operations Manager, Distribution Manager, General Manager or similar.
- Experience managing a sizeable workforce and multiple operational functions.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to interpret P&L, budgets and financial performance.
- Experience managing costs, productivity and operational KPIs.
- Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- A visible, hands-on leadership style.
- The confidence to challenge existing processes and drive positive change.
- Strong communication and people management skills.
- The ability to perform in a fast-paced, operational environment.
