Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and strategic EL2 Senior Independent Advisor to provide high-level advisory, stakeholder engagement and leadership support within a nationally significant advisory environment.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior professional with exceptional policy, research and stakeholder engagement capabilities who thrives in a complex and high-profile setting.

Location: Canberra ACT, Surry Hills NSW, Melbourne/Geelong VIC or Brisbane QLD
Employment Type: Part-Time (0.6 FTE)


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of strategic advice, recommendations, reports and briefing materials.
  • Work closely with senior leaders, advisory members and stakeholder groups to identify priorities and inform decision-making.
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings and consultation activities to gather feedback and insights.
  • Undertake research and analysis to support evidence-based recommendations.
  • Prepare executive-level papers, submissions and correspondence.
  • Coordinate and support the development of annual work plans and strategic priorities.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support and guide advisory members to effectively contribute to discussions and outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, engagement approaches and ways of working.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and supervision to a small team.
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience developing high-quality advisory, policy or strategic documents.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, consultation and facilitation experience.
  • Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and sensitive issues.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience influencing outcomes and building relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • The ability to work autonomously while delivering high-quality outcomes under broad direction.
Highly Regarded Experience
  • Experience preparing advice, submissions or briefing materials for senior executives or government stakeholders.
  • Qualifications and/or experience in public policy, social policy, health, community services, research or related disciplines.
  • Experience analysing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Strong understanding of governance, consultation and advisory processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and enhancing team performance.
