About the Role
Reporting to senior leadership within the Australian Submarine Agency environment, the Governance Manager (EL1) will exercise a considerable degree of independence and lead governance activities to ensure regulatory, security, and delivery requirements are effectively controlled and aligned with policy obligations.
You will play a key role in uplifting governance maturity across a complex program, delivering high-quality governance artefacts, and partnering with stakeholders across an integrated workforce to enable assured outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead governance processes, frameworks, and assurance activities to support consistent and policy-aligned delivery
- Prepare high-quality briefs, committee papers, governance artefacts and strategic advice for senior executives
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across operational areas, senior leadership and delivery partners
- Identify governance risks, gaps and opportunities, and implement practical improvements
- Provide oversight and guidance to ensure activities are effectively controlled, traceable and fit-for-purpose
- Support coordination of emerging priorities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all governance activities align with security requirements and relevant regulatory obligations
- Proven experience leading teams to deliver timely, high-quality governance outcomes in complex environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to negotiate outcomes and influence decisions
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including producing executive-level documentation
- A continuous improvement mindset with demonstrated ability to analyse information and uplift governance practices
- Experience in government and/or highly regulated environments (highly regarded)
- Strong professional judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under competing priorities
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance
