Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and driven EL1 Assistant Director - Quality Management based in Majura, ACT.

This is a unique opportunity for a quality management professional to lead quality assurance, governance and continuous improvement initiatives within a complex and highly regulated environment. Reporting under broad direction, you will play a key role in establishing and embedding organisational quality frameworks, driving assurance activities, and supporting strategic business improvement outcomes.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and analytical capabilities, with experience delivering quality management outcomes within engineering, technical, government or highly regulated industries.

The Opportunity As the EL1 Assistant Director - Quality Management, you will lead and influence quality initiatives across the organisation, ensuring compliance, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to establish quality frameworks, oversee assurance activities, manage policy and process change, and support organisational capability uplift through coaching and guidance.

This position offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives that deliver long-term organisational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and implement organisation-wide Quality Management Frameworks
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance on quality management principles and compliance requirements
  • Develop and maintain quality policies, procedures and governance documentation
  • Lead assurance reviews, audits and lessons learned activities
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiency
  • Support implementation of change arising from policy, system and business process updates
  • Lead document control functions and oversee quality review processes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve document management systems and controls
  • Coach and mentor team members to build organisational capability
  • Analyse risks, compliance requirements and performance outcomes to inform decision making
  • Build productive relationships with stakeholders across a diverse operating environment
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience leading quality management, assurance or governance functions
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, continuous improvement and compliance frameworks
  • Formal quality management qualifications highly regarded
  • Background in engineering, technical, regulatory or highly regulated environments
  • Experience conducting assurance reviews, audits or quality assessments
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to interpret policy, assess risk and provide practical recommendations
  • Experience leading teams, coaching staff and driving positive outcomes
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
