Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Work Health, Safety & Environment (WHSE) Specialist to join a high-performing team supporting a nationally significant government program based in Rockingham, WA.

This is an exciting opportunity for a WHSE professional who enjoys working in a complex operational environment and is passionate about safety leadership, risk management, continuous improvement and stakeholder engagement.

About the Role As a WHSE Specialist, you will provide specialist advice and support across safety governance, assurance, risk management, incident management and organisational learning activities. Working with a diverse range of stakeholders, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, compliant and high-performing workplace environment.

You will play a key role in supporting operational activities, infrastructure projects, emergency preparedness initiatives and broader workplace safety objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of WHSE management systems, policies and procedures.
  • Provide specialist advice on WHS and environmental compliance, governance and risk management.
  • Support audits, inspections, investigations, risk assessments and assurance activities.
  • Analyse and report on WHSE data to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in incident management, corrective action tracking and organisational learning processes.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain WHSE reporting, metrics and performance dashboards.
  • Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders on complex safety matters.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through education, awareness and continuous improvement activities.
About You To be successful, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in a WHS, HSE or WHSE advisory role within a complex operational environment.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and contemporary safety management practices.
  • Experience conducting audits, workplace inspections and risk assessments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data and trends.
  • Experience supporting incident investigations and corrective action programs.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capability and sound judgement.
  • The ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working within government, defence, infrastructure, resources, maritime, transport or other highly regulated industries.
  • Qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting large-scale operational or infrastructure programs.
