We are seeking an experienced Trade Controls Specialist to provide subject matter expertise across export controls, trade compliance and regulatory assurance activities. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with ITAR, EAR and Australian export control regulations while supporting business operations and risk management.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice on trade compliance requirements for bids, projects, commercial activities and international transactions.
- Manage export licences, approvals and regulatory submissions, including engagement with Australian and international stakeholders.
- Support customs compliance activities, import/export processes and third-party broker management.
- Conduct compliance reviews, internal audits and trade control assurance activities, maintaining risk registers and reporting findings.
- Oversee trade control records, licence documentation and compliance reporting requirements.
- Develop and deliver training, monitor regulatory changes and provide guidance to stakeholders across the business.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated expertise in ITAR, EAR and Australian export/import compliance regulations.
- Experience managing export licences, approvals and dealings with relevant regulatory authorities.
- Strong understanding of customs requirements, import/export processes and customs broker management.
- Experience conducting compliance audits, assurance activities, risk assessments and legislative interpretation.
- Ability to influence stakeholders, deliver training and communicate complex regulatory requirements effectively.
- Australian citizenship and ability to obtain or hold an Australian Defence security clearance. Experience with Technical Assistance Agreements, US export licensing systems, or qualifications in Business, Commerce or Law will be highly regarded.
