Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a highly capable Senior Payroll Officer to join our team on a short-term contract basis to provide temporary cover during a busy period.

About the Role

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll while providing guidance and support to a team of Payroll Officers. Working within a fast-paced environment, you will utilise your payroll expertise to resolve complex payroll matters and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, awards and enterprise agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll accurately and within strict deadlines
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and support to Payroll Officers
  • Investigate and resolve payroll queries and discrepancies.
  • Interpret and apply industrial awards, enterprise agreements and payroll legislation
  • Ensure payroll compliance and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support payroll projects and system enhancements as required
About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
  • Demonstrated experience in payroll processing
  • Previous experience supervising or leading Payroll Officers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Sound experience interpreting industrial awards, enterprise agreements and payroll-related legislation
The following will be highly regarded:
  • Experience using Dayforce payroll systems is ideal
