A leading Queensland Government department delivering one of the state’s most significant transport infrastructure programs is seeking a Senior Environmental Officer (PO4) to join the Coomera Connector Stage 1 project team based in Nerang on the Gold Coast.

In this role, you'll provide high-level environmental advice across planning, design, approvals and delivery activities, ensuring environmental compliance and sustainable project outcomes. This contract offers the opportunity to contribute to a landmark transport infrastructure project within one of South East Queensland’s fastest-growing regions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-level advice on State and Commonwealth environmental legislation, including the EPBC Act 1999. 
  • Support the delivery of environmental approvals, referrals, offsets and compliance requirements for major infrastructure works. 
  • Review project designs, environmental surveys, spatial data, Public Environment Reports (PERs) and environmental documentation. 
  • Identify environmental risks and constraints, negotiating practical design modifications where required. 
  • Coordinate environmental offsets and project land requirements with internal teams and external advisors. 
  • Represent the project in working groups, steering committees and stakeholder meetings. 

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience in environmental approvals, compliance or assessments within infrastructure, transport or related projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Queensland and Commonwealth environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to provide high-level written and verbal advice to a range of technical and senior stakeholders. 
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary project teams in government, consulting or infrastructure environments.
  • Degree qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline. 
  • Current C Class Driver Licence.
