This is an exciting contract opportunity for a cyber security specialist who has hands-on experience with Akamai and enterprise security technologies and enjoys working across complex environments to enhance security posture, resilience, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain and optimise enterprise web application and edge security platforms.
- Implement security platform changes in alignment with enterprise change management, peer review and release governance processes.
- Develop and support automation initiatives using APIs, Terraform and other approved tools to improve operational efficiency and reduce configuration risks.
- Monitor, investigate and respond to security incidents escalated from service desk and security operations teams.
- Assess, communicate, mitigate and track platform-related security risks and incidents.
- Collaborate closely with cyber security, infrastructure, network, architecture and operational teams to deliver secure and resilient services.
- Support critical customer-facing platforms operating in a 24x7 environment.
- Participate in major incident management and on-call support activities as required.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to ensure security platforms meet regulatory, compliance and industry security requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across security engineering, operations and platform management.
- Strong hands-on experience with Akamai security solutions, including:
- Web Application Firewall (WAF)
- Edge DNS
- Bot Management
- API Security
- Traffic Management
- DDoS Protection
- Akamai Certified Security Administrator or equivalent certification, with proven experience administering enterprise security and WAF platforms.
- Experience with alternative edge security technologies such as Cloudflare, Imperva, or similar enterprise platforms.
- Demonstrated experience within cyber security engineering, security operations, or platform administration roles in large and complex environments.

- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and business teams.
- Experience supporting mission-critical, highly available digital services.
- Experience working in regulated or critical infrastructure environments.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and standards including:
- Essential Eight
- NIST Cyber Security Framework
- SOCI obligations
- Australian security and risk management practices
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and security automation.
