About the role
We are seeking a Plant Operator specializing in Backhoe operations. In this role, you will be instrumental in constructing and maintaining vital water and wastewater infrastructure. This position offers a great opportunity to work on important community projects in a supportive and dynamic environment. You will be responsible for working as part of a team to construct and maintain water and wastewater infrastructure, operate plant and machinery, and deliver high-quality customer service to support efficient utilities operations. This is a casual role offering full time hours between 6:30am and 4:40pm, 4 days a week (Tuesday - Friday).
Duties
• Operate backhoes and other plant machinery safely and efficiently on construction sites
• Assist with pipe laying and other utility infrastructure tasks
• Perform physically demanding labour tasks as required
• Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards
• Support project teams in meeting deadlines and quality expectations
Skills and Experience
• Proven experience operating a backhoe and relevant plant machinery
• Construction Industry Induction Ticket (white card)
• Class C driver’s license; HR license is a plus
• Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors
• Current immunization against Hepatitis A and B or willingness to participate
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
