Chandler Macleod is seeking a suitably qualified Pipe Welder for a 6-month contract with a Defence client in Western Australia. The successful candidate will ideally have experience in the defence / marine shipbuilding industry.
Duties
- Perform fabrication, welding and general maintenance duties
- Perform high-quality GTAW welding
- Perfom quality checks
- Work different pipe materials such as Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Copper Nickel
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Work in confined spaces
- Collaborate with Supervisors and Inspectors
Requirements
- Must hold Australian Citizenship
- White Card
- Confined Space
- National Police Clearance (less than 3 months)
- Trade Qualification – Cert III Fabrication / Welding
- Experience with different pipe materials such as Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Copper Nickel
- Experience working with welding procedures and inspection welds
- Experience performing high-quality GTAW welding
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure welds meet requirements
- Abilityt to pass a 2G & 5G weld test
- Previous shipbuilding experience highly desirable
- Comfortable working in confined spaces
- Ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Defence Clearance
