An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Mine Planning Engineer to join a major resources organisation supporting the integration of mine planning and infrastructure requirements across large-scale open pit mining operations.
This position plays a critical role in connecting operational and medium-term planning outcomes with infrastructure development requirements, ensuring mining activities remain aligned with future energy and infrastructure strategies.
Working within a highly collaborative technical team, you will partner closely with mine planning, operations, technical services, and infrastructure stakeholders to support planning integration across a dynamic mining portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary interface between mine planning and infrastructure teams
  • Participate in planning meetings and collaborate closely with 2-Year Planning and Operations Planning teams
  • Translate approved mine plans into near-term infrastructure and energisation requirements
  • Monitor and assess changes to approved mine plans and identify impacts to infrastructure schedules
  • Maintain integrated pit and infrastructure planning registers
  • Model mobile equipment charging requirements, including charger numbers, locations, and deployment timing
  • Assess infrastructure constraints and integrate these into mine sequencing activities
  • Identify and resolve conflicts between mining schedules, fleet deployment, and infrastructure readiness
  • Support quarterly planning cycles and change management activities
  • Evaluate cost, schedule, and delivery impacts arising from planning changes
  • Support trade-off studies and planning optimisation initiatives
  • Ensure planning datasets are maintained and published accurately to enterprise planning systems
  • Contribute to the standardisation and continuous improvement of planning processes
About You

You are a motivated and proactive Mining Engineer who enjoys working across multiple stakeholder groups and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You're a go-getter who takes ownership, challenges the status quo, and actively looks for opportunities to improve planning outcomes and drive value.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in open pit mining operations and mine planning
  • Experience in short- to medium-term mine planning environments
  • Strong understanding of mine sequencing and production planning
  • Mine design experience
  • Experience using mine planning software such as:
    • Deswik
    • Alastri
    • Vulcan
    • or similar planning packages
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
Highly Regarded
  • Pilbara mining experience
  • Iron ore experience
  • Exposure to fleet electrification, energy transition, or infrastructure planning initiatives
  • Experience within large mining operations or mining consultancies
