Campbelfield
Our client is a privately owned, founder-led group of businesses with a combined annual turnover exceeding $30 million. The Group spans six operating entities across bin hire and waste services, property development, legal services, agriculture and wellness, all wholly owned by a single Director who moves fast and runs multiple projects at once.
This is not a conventional Financial Controller role. It's a genuine seat at the table with a founder who has built serious value across his businesses but knows his financial oversight hasn't kept pace with growth. Fund flows between entities haven't always been formally documented, and there's currently no single consolidated view of the Group's debt, cash or net asset position.
You'll be the first person to sit across the entire Group with a clear mandate: bring order, structure and visibility to the Director's complete financial position, business and personal.
Responsibilities
- Owning the Group's consolidated financial position at all times, with the Director able to get an accurate answer to any financial question within the hour
- Managing everything from personal expenses through to major capital requirements for property acquisitions and construction
- Rolling cash flow forecasts and a weekly cash and debt summary for the Director
- Overseeing the bookkeeping team and liaising with the external tax agent on compliance
- Building and enforcing clear financial controls, including a formal intercompany transfer process
- Supporting evaluation of new property acquisitions, including development feasibility modelling
- Managing banking relationships and lender communication across a large number of accounts
- 7+ years in a senior finance role, ideally across multiple entities or a group structure
- Hands-on experience with property development finance: construction loans, feasibility, project cost control
- Comfortable working directly with a founder where priorities shift fast; you're a stabilising force, not an extra variable
- Advanced Xero skills across multiple entities, without needing support
- Experience managing or directing bookkeepers and junior finance staff
- CPA or CA preferred, though exceptional experience will be considered in place of it
- Absolute discretion; you'll have full visibility of the Director's personal and business financial position
At 30 days, you'll have delivered a complete financial map of the Group. At 6 months, clear controls are in place and the Director gets a weekly summary he can rely on. At 12 months, you're his most trusted operational partner, contributing directly to decisions on acquisitions, cash deployment and growth.
This is a genuinely broad, high-trust mandate for someone who wants ownership, not just oversight.
