About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Construction Officer (Utilities Construction). This role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in essential utility projects, contributing to the development and maintenance of critical infrastructure. You will be responsible for working as part of a team to construct and maintain water and wastewater infrastructure, operate plant and machinery, and deliver high-quality customer service to support efficient utilities operations. This includes supporting with a water hydrant maintenance program. This is a casual role offering full time hours, between 6:30am to 4:40pm, 4 days per week (Tuesday to Friday).


Duties
  • Oversee and coordinate utility construction projects to ensure timely and efficient delivery
  • Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Liaise with contractors, stakeholders, and team members to facilitate smooth project execution
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules, providing updates to management
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and relevant permits
  • Support project planning, implementation, and close-out activities

Skills and Experience
  • Experience in and ability to perform a range of physical labouring duties.
  • Class MR driver licence.
  • Work Safely in the Construction Industry Induction ticket (white card).
  • Current immunisation against Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B viruses or willingness to participate in an immunisation program.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure including pipelines, manholes, storage tanks, valve pits and small sewer pump stations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation of a backhoe and other relevant plant items (such as tipper truck, front end loader, etc.) and basic mechanical knowledge.
