Chandler Macleod are recruiting for an Estimator on behalf of a well-established and growing construction business based in Shepparton.

Whether you're an experienced Estimator, a Draftsperson looking to move into estimating, or a construction professional with strong technical and systems aptitude, this role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact within a growing business.

The Opportunity As Estimator, you will take ownership of project estimating, pricing and purchasing functions, ensuring residential construction projects are accurately costed and commercially managed from pre-construction through to handover.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, trades and suppliers while contributing to process improvements, systems optimisation and business growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates from architectural plans and documentation.
  • Maintain and improve estimating systems, cost databases and price books.
  • Generate and manage purchase orders with approved suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Review project budgets and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and profitability.
  • Support sales and operational teams with accurate pricing information and cost advice.
  • Identify potential risks, budget overruns and delivery issues before they become project impacts.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Visit project sites as required to assess variations, resolve issues and support project outcomes.
About You We are interested in candidates from a range of construction-related backgrounds, including:

  • Residential or Commercial Estimating
  • Drafting and plan interpretation
  • Construction, carpentry or building trades transitioning off the tools
  • Building materials, supplier or manufacturing environments
  • Technical, engineering or project support roles with strong systems capability
To be successful, you'll demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent computer literacy, including Excel and estimating software
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • The ability to build trusted relationships with suppliers, trades and colleagues
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach

  • Competitive salary package from $100,000+ plus superannuation, negotiable based on experience
  • Full-time permanent position
  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm

Requirements
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Current driver's licence and reliable transport
  • Ability to work from the Shepparton region and maintain a sustainable daily commute
  • Experience within construction, estimating, drafting, building, procurement or a related discipline
