The opportunity
- Location: Perth (CBD) — hybrid, with occasional day trips to site (e.g., to support projects or attend FATs)
- Roster: Monday to Friday (standard office hours) + ad-hoc site visits
- Contract: Initial 6 months(potential to extend to 12 months for the right person)
- Start date: 1 October 2026
- Rate: $120.00/hr + super (PAYG)
You’ll be responsible for design and design development across a portfolio including:
- Geotechnical works
- Underground piping
- Dams / foundations
- Water mains
- Manage external service providers (ESPs) and drive design development from concept through to construction-ready
- Ensure designs are fit-for-purpose and compliant within BHP engineering governance
- Review incoming design deliverables and critically analyse drawings and documentation
- Make practical engineering/design decisions and approve designs for construction
- Maintain schedule discipline and keep stakeholders aligned and informed
- Degree-qualified engineer with a civil background
- Proven experience acting as a design manager / technical project manager(design governance, approvals, schedule accountability)
- Confident working with ESPs—able to hold teams to account and push outcomes
- Strong organisation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Exposure to SPO, MicroStation, P6, SAP
- Strong Excel capability and general familiarity with BHP ways of working
