About the role
We're currently seeking an experienced Bridge Worker to join a leading State Government organisation on a full-time temporary assignment based in Wagga, NSW.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a civil construction, bridge maintenance or infrastructure background who enjoys working outdoors, undertaking hands-on work, and contributing to safe, high-quality bridge maintenance and construction projects.
 
The role will commence 24 August 2026 and run through to 24 December 2026 , working a 9-day fortnight (76 hours per fortnight) and an 8.5 hour day.
 
While based in Wagga, approximately 90% of the role will involve camping away from home at various work locations. Regular overtime is also available, providing an opportunity to increase your earnings. Relevant accommodation and allowances will be provided when working away.
 
Duties
  • General cleaning, sweeping and maintenance of bridges and culverts.
  • General painting of concrete, timber and steel structures.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards across site tool sheds and trailers.
  • Undertake formwork and falsework for concrete bridge elements, including kerbs, end posts, topping slabs, wing walls and base slabs.
  • Perform chainsaw and adze work on large timber bridge elements, including girders, piers and kerbs.
  • Undertake steel fixing activities as required.
  • Safely and effectively use battery-operated hand tools.
  • Assist with general bridge construction and maintenance activities as directed.
  • Maintain a strong focus on workplace health, safety and environmental requirements.
 
Skills and Experience
  • Highly regarded: Previous experience in bridge construction, bridge maintenance, civil construction or similar infrastructure works.
  • Highly regarded: Practical experience with formwork, steel fixing, timber work, painting or general construction activities.
  • Essential : White Card & Current unrestricted drivers licence
  • Work on Foot (WOF) Card (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to work outdoors and undertake physically demanding work in varying conditions.
  • Willingness and ability to camp away from home for extended periods, with approximately 90% of the role involving travel and overnight stays.
  • Ability to work additional overtime when required.
  • Ability to pass a National Police Check.
