About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Work Health & Safety (WHS) Advisor / OHS Advisor / Safety Advisor to join a WA State Government organisation on a 6-month contract.
This role will support the WHS Lead in delivering effective workplace health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with WA WHS legislation, and promoting a strong safety culture across a complex service environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with hazard identification and incident investigations, including risk assessments and corrective action implementation
- Provide operational support and guidance on WHS and injury management (IM) matters
- Maintain WHS records, registers, and reporting for People & Culture requirements
- Support the review and development of WHS policies, procedures, and corporate documentation
- Assist in coordinating WHS Committee activities, including stakeholder engagement, workplace inspections, and HSR support
- Coordinate ergonomic assessments and equipment requests arising from hazards or onboarding needs
- Support WHS and wellbeing programs, including administrative functions for working groups
- Assist with budget tracking, invoicing, SAP processing, and WHS-related expenditure
- Contribute to broader health, safety and wellbeing initiatives as required
- Qualification in Work Health & Safety (Cert IV minimum)
- Demonstrated experience as a WHS Advisor / OHS Advisor / HSE Advisor / Safety Officer
- Strong understanding of WA WHS Act 2020 and WHS Regulations 2022, including Codes of Practice
- Experience conducting incident investigations (ICAM or similar) and implementing corrective actions
- Proven capability in risk assessments, hazard management, and WHS data analysis
- Experience supporting WHS consultation and stakeholder engagement, including working with management and HSRs
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience in government or complex organisational environments is highly regarded
