About the role
We are seeking a Wastewater Officer to join a busy field operations maintenance team. This hands-on casual role offers full-time hours on a 9-day fortnight, working from 6:30am to 3:40pm, and is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work, maintenance activities, and contributing to the reliable operation of essential wastewater infrastructure.
 
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will assist with the cleaning, maintenance and repair of wastewater pump stations, assets and reticulation networks, ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently.
 
Duties
  • Assist with the cleaning, maintenance and repair of wastewater pump stations and associated infrastructure.
  • Perform a variety of labouring tasks to support the operation of wastewater systems.
  • Operate and maintain small plant and equipment, including pressure cleaners and power tools.
  • Conduct inspections and routine maintenance activities across wastewater assets.
  • Complete field-based work in accordance with safe work practices and procedures.
  • Utilise tablets and mobile devices to record maintenance activities and inspections.
  • Work within confined spaces where required and in accordance with relevant safety requirements.
  • Contribute to the efficient operation and upkeep of wastewater networks and infrastructure.
 
Skills and Experience
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater reticulation networks or similar infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to undertake physically demanding labouring duties.
  • Experience operating and maintaining small plant and equipment such as pressure cleaners and power tools.
  • Sound computer skills with the ability to use tablets, mobile devices and digital applications.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles.
  • Current White Card.
  • Current Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B immunisation, or willingness to participate in an immunisation program.
  • Ability and willingness to work in confined spaces.
 
Highly regarded:
  • TAFE qualifications in Water Operations, Wastewater Operations, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in wastewater reticulation system operation and maintenance.
