We are seeking an enthusiastic and community-focused Waste Education Officer to support the delivery of waste education and waste minimisation initiatives across a local government area.

About the Role Working within a collaborative waste management team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering innovative waste education programs that encourage best-practice waste management and resource recovery within the community.
You will engage with residents, schools, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders to promote waste minimisation initiatives and support environmental outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and promote community clean-up events and environmental initiatives
- Develop and deliver waste education programs and educational materials
- Engage with community groups, schools, businesses and residents
- Conduct community awareness campaigns promoting waste reduction and recycling
- Coordinate kerbside bin auditing programs and follow-up education activities
- Provide high-quality customer service and waste management advice
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, contractors, community organisations and government agencies
- Assist with data collection, reporting and program evaluation
- Identify opportunities for external funding and support for sustainability initiatives
- Qualifications and/or experience in environmental management, sustainability, education, project management, community engagement, customer service or a related field
- Experience developing, coordinating and delivering education or community engagement programs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities
- Demonstrated customer service, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Strong organisational and project coordination capabilities
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Current Driver's Licence
- Waste management or resource recovery programs
- Community development and behavioural change initiatives
