Rate:$65 per hour + Super
We are seeking an experienced Transport Engineer to support a busy local government transport and parking team based in Dandenong.
Working across traffic management, road safety, parking management and development referrals, you will provide expert technical advice and contribute to the safe and efficient management of the municipality's transport network.
This is an excellent opportunity for a transport or traffic engineering professional with local government or consulting experience to work on a range of operational and strategic projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and provide recommendations on traffic and transport impacts of development referrals.
- Review Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes.
- Investigate customer requests and provide advice relating to traffic management, road safety, parking and transport engineering matters.
- Provide specialist technical advice regarding subdivisions, transport planning and parking management.
- Assist with road safety initiatives, transport planning projects and unit business plan objectives.
- Liaise with key stakeholders including Victoria Police, Department of Transport and Planning, service authorities and neighbouring councils.
- Prepare technical reports, correspondence and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain transport-related databases and information systems.
- Support advocacy and funding initiatives aimed at improving road safety outcomes.
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or a related discipline.
- Several years' experience within transport, traffic or road safety engineering.
- Strong knowledge of traffic and parking management principles and road safety engineering.
- Experience interpreting relevant legislation, regulations, standards and guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience assessing development referrals and transport impacts.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
- A positive, professional and ethical approach with a strong customer service focus.
- Current Victorian Driver's Licence.
- Valid Working With Children Check.
- Satisfactory Police Check.
- Membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association is highly regarded.
