Team Leader – Payroll
Location: Narre Warren
Pay Rate:$75–$79 per hour + super
Contract: Until 31 July 2026

We are currently seeking an experienced Team Leader – Payroll to lead the delivery of accurate, compliant and efficient payroll services within a large and complex organisation.
This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing payroll operations, supporting a small team, and ensuring all payroll processes are delivered in line with legislative requirements and organisational standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise and support Payroll Officers in the day-to-day processing of payroll
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in line with established accounting timeframes
  • Maintain the integrity of payroll data, records, and reporting
  • Oversee payroll-related reconciliations, including General Ledger and superannuation contributions
  • Manage WorkCover payments and maintain accurate associated records
  • Monitor and contribute to the Salary & Associated Costs budget (including FBT)
  • Ensure payroll transactions are accurately costed across business units
  • Maintain and optimise the Chris21 payroll system in collaboration with IT
  • Provide specialist payroll advice to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements
About You
  • Proven experience in a payroll leadership or senior payroll role within a large organisation
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and developing team members
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, and industrial agreements
  • Experience using Chris21 (or similar payroll systems)
  • Solid understanding of general ledger processes and reconciliations
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities

This is a contract role through to 31 July 2026. The position requires a proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage workload priorities in a fast-paced environment.
