Structural Engineer (Asset Integrity & Asset Management)

Location: Primarily based at Boddington Mine with travel to a nearby alumina refinery typically once per fortnight to once per month.

Travel Requirement: Candidates must be able to travel from their home location to both operational sites as required. Bus transport is available from Perth and Mandurah to Boddington Mine; however, no bus service is available to the refinery site and personal transport will be required.

Rate:$100 - $106 per hour plus superannuation
Roster: 4 x 10-hour days or 9-day fortnight
Contract Duration: Initial 6-month contract with strong potential for extension
Start Date: Immediate availability or short notice period preferred

Chandler Macleod is seeking a Structural Engineer to support a major WA mining and processing operation.

This opportunity is ideally suited to an engineer with 2-5+ years' experience who is looking to further develop their knowledge of structural integrity, asset management, inspection programs, defect assessment and asset reliability within a large-scale operational environment.

About the Role Reporting to the Asset Management team, you will support the ongoing structural integrity and reliability of critical mine and processing infrastructure.

This is a hands-on operational engineering position with a strong focus on structural inspections, condition assessments, defect identification, risk management and remediation planning. You will also contribute to a range of maintenance and improvement projects while working closely with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct structural inspections and assess asset condition across mining and processing operations
  • Identify, investigate and assess structural defects and integrity risks
  • Support structural integrity management and asset management programs
  • Develop practical engineering recommendations and remediation strategies
  • Assist with structural assessments, designs and technical documentation
  • Support maintenance and capital improvement projects
  • Contribute to risk assessments and risk-based decision making
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and engineering best practice
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance and Project teams to improve asset reliability and performance
About You
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 2-5+ years' experience in Structural Engineering
  • Experience conducting inspections, assessments and defect analysis
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and asset integrity
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Currently residing in Perth, WA or surrounding areas
Highly Regarded
  • Mining, mineral processing, manufacturing or heavy industrial experience
  • Exposure to structural integrity or asset management programs
  • Experience supporting maintenance and capital projects
  • Engineers Australia membership or progress towards professional registration
