Chandler Macleod are seeking a  highly driven, hands-on Sous Chef  with experience in a fast-paced production environment to join our  high-performance Flight Catering team  based at Perth Airport. What does a typical day look like?
As Sous Chef, you will be responsible for  planning and directing food preparation  within our busy production kitchen. You will lead and support kitchen staff while ensuring operational efficiency and consistent delivery of  high-quality culinary products.
This role suits someone with experience in  large-scale, high-end, multi-function catering environments, who thrives in fast-paced operations and values precision, consistency, and teamwork. Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure your section is  organised, staffed, and running efficiently
  • Order food and equipment in line with daily production requirements
  • Provide  hands-on leadership, training, and development  to junior team members
  • Execute and supervise  food production, packing, and tray-set operations
  • Prepare and oversee the production of  complex meals to exact specifications
  • Monitor and maintain  KPI compliance, including strict adherence to recipes
  • Control  labour costs, food costs, and wastage  in line with budget targets
  • Contribute to  menu development and product innovation  as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Proven experience in a  Sous Chef or similar leadership role
  • Trade qualification as a Chef
  • Minimum 5  years’ experience  in a high-volume food production environment 
  • Strong knowledge of  HACCP, QSAI, Food Safety, and OHS standards
  • Experience in  airline catering or large-scale service environments  (highly regarded)
  • Demonstrated ability to  lead and develop teams
  • Experience working in a  Halal environment, including knowledge of segregation practices
  • Strong  commercial awareness, with the ability to manage costs effectively
  • Excellent  communication and organisational skills
  • Confidence using  Microsoft Office and computer systems
  • Ability to obtain a  National Police Check
  • Availability to work  full-time (38 hours per week)
