Chandler Macleod is currently seeking an experienced Short Term Planner (Electrical) for an exciting opportunity with Rio Tinto at East Intercourse Island (EII). This is a critical planning position supporting fixed plant maintenance, operational reliability, and project delivery within one of Rio Tinto's key port operations.
Offering an early September start to allow for a comprehensive handover, this role will suit a highly accountable planning professional with strong forecasting, budgeting, compliance, and maintenance planning experience.
About the Role Working closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Project Teams, you will be responsible for ensuring electrical maintenance activities are fully scoped, planned, budgeted, resourced, and ready for execution.
This is a high-level planning role requiring a strong understanding of fixed plant maintenance, statutory and electrical compliance requirements, maintenance forecasting, and cost management. You will play a key role in supporting both maintenance and project outcomes while ensuring plans are execution-ready and aligned with operational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed electrical maintenance plans and executable work packs.
- Ensure all materials, labour, tooling, contractor services, and documentation are available ahead of execution.
- Support engineers and project teams by integrating project requirements into maintenance plans.
- Prepare and manage maintenance forecasts and budget estimates.
- Monitor maintenance expenditure and support cost tracking activities.
- Utilise forecasting tools to provide accurate cost projections and resource planning.
- Ensure all planned work complies with statutory, regulatory, and electrical compliance requirements.
- Drive planning quality to ensure work is execution-ready and delivered safely and efficiently.
- Review equipment performance and maintenance history to identify improvement opportunities.
- Participate in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and maintenance review meetings.
- Monitor planned versus actual performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Electrical Trade Qualification (essential).
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in maintenance planning roles.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working within Rio Tinto operations.
- Demonstrated experience within fixed plant maintenance environments.
- Strong understanding of electrical compliance and statutory maintenance requirements.
- Proven experience managing maintenance budgets, forecasting, and cost control activities.
- Experience using SAP and Prometheus maintenance systems.
- Experience using forecasting and cost management tools.
- Strong understanding of maintenance work management processes and planning best practice.
- Experience supporting engineers and project teams in a planning capacity.
- High level of accountability with the ability to take ownership of planning outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
