About the Role
We are seeking an experienced regulatory professional to lead and deliver compliance and enforcement activities across tobacco and e-cigarette legislation. This is a key leadership role focused on protecting public health through proactive inspections, stakeholder engagement, and strategic compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team to deliver high-quality compliance and enforcement outcomes
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee regulatory inspections (covert and overt) across retail environments and smoke-free areas
  • Drive a risk-based approach to compliance programs and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide expert advice on complex and sensitive regulatory matters
  • Prepare high-quality reports, briefs, and policy papers
  • Monitor trends in tobacco and e-cigarette use to inform regulatory strategies
  • Collaborate with government agencies, legal representatives, and industry stakeholders
  • Support enforcement actions, including preparation of search warrants and court attendance
  • Coordinate training and capability development for inspectors
  • Analyse compliance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
About You
You are a confident and capable leader with strong regulatory experience and the ability to operate in a complex and evolving environment.

Essential experience and skills:
  • Extensive experience in compliance, regulation, or enforcement roles
  • Strong understanding of legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven leadership and team management capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • Experience in investigations, inspections, or enforcement activities
Qualifications:
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or equivalent) highly desirable
Key Requirements
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel across NSW, including overnight stays
  • Ability to manage challenging situations, including interactions with non-compliant or distressed individuals
  • Commitment to integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement
