Join a dynamic planning team on a 10 week contract and play a key role in shaping urban development outcomes.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Statutory Planner to assess and determine a diverse range of planning applications while delivering high-quality planning advice to stakeholders and the community. This role offers the opportunity to manage complex statutory planning matters, represent the organisation at tribunal hearings, and contribute to high-profile developments within a fast-paced metropolitan environment. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and determine planning permit applications and related statutory planning matters.
  • Prepare planning reports, recommendations and permit decisions.
  • Provide expert advice on planning policies, controls and processes.
  • Conduct pre-application meetings and liaise with applicants, consultants and community members.
  • Facilitate community consultation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Represent the organisation at VCAT hearings, mediations and directions hearings.
  • Present recommendations to planning committees and decision-makers.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with legislative requirements
About You
  • Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of the Victorian planning system, including the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and Victoria Planning Provisions.
  • Experience managing statutory planning applications within either local government or the private sector.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet statutory deadlines.
  • Experience presenting matters before VCAT is highly regarded.
