A rare opportunity exists for a seasoned Senior Project Manager & PMO Lead to join a major Victorian State Government technology transformation initiative.
This senior leadership role will be responsible for establishing and leading a high-performing PMO function while overseeing the delivery of complex, business-critical programs. You will work closely with executive stakeholders to drive governance excellence, portfolio oversight, strategic planning, and delivery outcomes across a significant technology and transformation portfolio.
The Opportunity
As the Senior Project Manager & PMO Lead, you will provide strategic leadership across a portfolio of complex projects, ensuring robust governance, transparent reporting, effective prioritisation, and successful program delivery.
You will lead a team of project professionals, establish best-practice PMO frameworks, and provide trusted advice and insights to senior executives to support informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead the PMO function across a large-scale transformation portfolio.
- Drive governance, assurance, reporting, and project delivery standards.
- Provide strategic portfolio oversight, risk management, and executive decision support.
- Lead project prioritisation, resource planning, and benefits realisation activities.
- Mentor and manage Project Managers, Business Analysts, and PMO staff.
- Deliver high-quality reporting, insights, and recommendations to executive stakeholders.
- Strengthen project controls and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure initiatives remain aligned to strategic objectives and organisational priorities.
You are a highly experienced PMO and project delivery leader with a proven track record of delivering complex technology and transformation programs within large and highly regulated environments.
You will bring:
- 10+ years' experience leading major programs, portfolios, or PMO functions.
- Extensive experience delivering large-scale technology, digital, or business transformation initiatives.
- Strong expertise in governance, portfolio management, assurance, and executive reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
- Deep knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills at executive level.
- Strong commercial, strategic, and risk management capabilities.
- Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
