Chandler Macleod is partnering with a leading ACT Government organisation to recruit an experienced Procurement Manager for a 9-month full-time contract based in Canberra.

This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with strong government procurement experience to contribute to the delivery of major urban development, renewal and land release projects. You will play a pivotal role in managing end-to-end procurement activities, providing strategic advice, and ensuring procurement outcomes are delivered efficiently, transparently and in accordance with legislative and policy requirements.

About the Role As the Procurement Manager, you will coordinate and deliver procurement activities across a diverse and complex portfolio of projects. Working closely with Program Directors, Project Managers and technical specialists, you will provide expert procurement guidance from planning through to contract establishment and procurement close-out.

This role requires exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to balance compliance and governance requirements with practical project delivery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including planning, market approaches, evaluations, approvals, contract establishment and procurement close-out.
  • Develop and maintain procurement documentation, including Statements of Requirements, procurement plans, evaluation plans, tender documentation and evaluation reports.
  • Coordinate tender evaluation processes, including evaluator briefings, moderation sessions, probity requirements and approval documentation.
  • Provide expert advice on procurement legislation, policies, governance, risk management and value-for-money principles.
  • Support contract establishment activities, including preparation of contract documentation, approvals and execution processes.
  • Manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously while meeting project schedules and governance requirements.
  • Liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, including project teams, legal, finance, governance and procurement specialists.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through the development of procurement templates, tools and guidance materials.
  • Provide procurement status reporting, identify risks and support timely decision-making across project teams.
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience managing end-to-end procurement processes within a government or complex corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of government procurement legislation, policy frameworks and governance requirements.
  • Proven ability to develop high-quality procurement and contract documentation, including:
    • Statements of Requirements
    • Procurement and Evaluation Plans
    • Tender Documentation
    • Evaluation Reports
    • Contract Recommendation and Establishment Documentation
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and consultation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders, project teams and technical specialists.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing briefings, reports and recommendations for executive decision-makers.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight deadlines.
  • Sound judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to balance compliance, probity, risk and project delivery objectives.
