This is a hands-on field-based role supporting emergency response, recovery works, and construction delivery across a large-scale Natural Disaster Recovery Program. You'll act as the Principal's representative, ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and in accordance with funding requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support the Program Manager in the safe and effective delivery of natural disaster recovery and reconstruction projects.
- Provide construction surveillance, oversight, and field leadership across emergency works, first response activities, and ongoing recovery projects.
- Act as the Principal's representative, monitoring contractor performance, site safety, quality outcomes, environmental compliance, and traffic management requirements.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, maintenance partners, and key stakeholders to support timely project delivery.
- Maintain accurate site records, construction documentation, photographic evidence, and project compliance records to support funding eligibility.
- Assist with emergency response operations and immediate recovery activities across regional infrastructure networks.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 15 years' experience in construction supervision, construction inspection, civil works oversight, or similar field-based delivery roles.
- Minimum 5 years' experience supporting disaster recovery, emergency works, DRFA-funded projects, flood recovery projects, or first response construction activities.
- Strong knowledge of civil infrastructure construction, contractor management, workplace safety, quality assurance, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining detailed construction records, site reporting, and funding compliance documentation.
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
- Ability to work independently in field-based environments and travel extensively throughout the region.
Mandatory Vehicle Requirements
Candidates must provide and maintain a fully compliant vehicle suitable for delivery of the services, including:
- Fully maintained 4WD vehicle
- Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance
- UHF radio
- Roof-mounted lightbar capable of independent operation
- Reverse sensors and audible reversing alarm
- Fire extinguisher
- First aid kit including snake bite kit
