Mitcham, Werribee or Maffra (Hybrid Opportunities Available)
Are you an experienced accountant looking for an opportunity to make an immediate impact within a purpose-driven organisation?
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join a high-performing finance team on an initial 3-month contract, supporting critical financial operations and commercial services functions across Victoria.
This role can be based from Mitcham, Werribee or Maffra, with flexibility for candidates located elsewhere in Victoria who can travel to one of these office locations as required.
About the Role Reporting into the Commercial Services function, you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity, compliance and effectiveness of financial operations.
You will oversee core accounting processes, support revenue management activities, and help drive best-practice financial controls and procurement compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing financial processing activities to ensure transactions are accurate, complete, authorised and appropriately reconciled across:
- Accounts payable and procurement
- Billing and debtors
- Treasury management
- Supervising revenue collection activities and supporting effective debt management processes.
- Maintaining and improving documented procedures relating to billing, collections and financial controls.
- Monitoring and analysing debt collection performance, providing recommendations and reporting on variances.
- Supporting compliance with organisational and government procurement requirements.
- Facilitating value-for-money procurement practices and governance processes.
- Monitoring daily and longer-term cash flow requirements and assisting with treasury and debt management activities.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across financial systems, processes and reporting.
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline.
- CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification, or significant progress towards completion, highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in a senior accounting, finance or commercial services role.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury functions.
- Experience working within complex organisational environments, ideally within government, public sector or regulated environments.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong financial systems experience.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- A proactive approach with the ability to quickly understand processes and add value from day one.
- Initial 3-month contract opportunity.
- Competitive hourly rate equivalent to $64.53 per hour plus superannuation.
- Flexible location across Mitcham, Werribee or Maffra offices.
