This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of Sydney's most iconic cultural institutions and play an important role in creating memorable experiences for visitors from across Australia and around the world.
These positions are ideal for candidates with strong retail and customer service experience who enjoy building genuine connections with customers in a welcoming, conversational environment. We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced retail professionals, university students seeking part-time work, or parents looking for family-friendly hours that can work around school pick-ups and drop-offs.

As a Retail Assistant, you will be an integral member of the Museum Shop team, delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the retail store. This role is focused on providing visitors with a positive shopping experience through friendly engagement, product knowledge and professional service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing outstanding customer service and assisting visitors with purchases and enquiries
- Processing sales, returns and exchanges through the point-of-sale system
- Handling cash and reconciling transactions accurately
- Assisting with stock replenishment and inventory management
- Maintaining visual merchandising and presentation standards throughout the store
- Supporting opening and closing procedures
- Assisting with online and phone enquiries where required
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure an exceptional visitor experience
- $34.96 per hour + super
- 15–20 hours per week (3–4 shifts per week)
- Predominantly Monday to Friday roster
- 11:00am – 4:00pm shifts during off-peak periods
- 11:00am – 5:00pm shifts during peak periods
- Flexibility to accommodate school drop-off and pick-up arrangements where possible
- Initial contract until 30 June 2027 with possibility of extension

- Successful candidates will commence from the week commencing 17 August or 24 August
