About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the successful delivery of remediation and construction works within a site-based project environment.
Reporting to the Project Lead, you will be responsible for monitoring contractor performance, verifying installed quantities, managing project cost controls and supporting the commercial administration of project activities.
Working closely with project engineers, planners, contracts specialists and contractors, you will ensure quantities, costs and project reporting are accurate while contributing to safe, efficient and high-quality project execution. This role requires strong commercial acumen, excellent attention to detail and the ability to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Commercial Management
- Monitor and track installed quantities of remediation works completed by contractors.
- Monitor and verify daily labour resources, including review and sign-off of daywork sheets.
- Monitor contractor plant, equipment and material usage on site, including verification of daywork sheets.
- Review, verify and provide commentary on contractor daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Review and update job cards, including initial measures, variations and daily QMR updates.
- Review and verify contractor payment claims to ensure quantities claimed are accurate and supported.
- Support the Project Lead in preparing, maintaining and updating monthly project cost forecasts.
- Assist in the development of contractor execution strategies, scope of work documentation and bills of quantities.
- Support contractor compliance with project Quality and HSE requirements.
- Assist Project Advisors in verifying contractor compliance with project risk assessments.
- Complete leadership in the field activities including pre-task hazard assessment
- reviews, critical control verifications, and quality safety interactions, and checks
- on the spotlight topic
- Support the Project Engineer by reviewing thickness test reports and approving compensation plating remediation plans and installed quantities.
- Document and manage design and scope changes while maintaining accurate project cost forecasts.
- Attend weekly contractor progress meetings.
- Participate in shutdown planning meetings and site walk-arounds as required.
- Review provisional sum expenditure requests against approved scopes of work.
- Provide commercial support to the Contracts Specialist in the assessment of variation requests.
- Assist the Project Planner with contractor performance analysis and reporting.
- Raise purchase requisitions as required.
- Maintain compliance with all mandatory training and competency requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of welding, civil, scaffolding, blast & painting.
- Construction estimating or project finance experience will be highly regarded.
