About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer - Electrical & Control Systems to join a high-performing team delivering projects within a major mining operation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interacting with project owners and sponsors to develop project scope documents
  • Preparing cost estimates, project schedules, and cashflow forecasts
  • Coordinating with engineering teams, vendors, procurement stakeholders, and contractors to successfully deliver projects
  • Facilitating the development of Statements of Work (SOW) and detailed engineering designs
  • Working closely with Construction Advisors and contractors to review construction methodologies and equipment selection
  • Monitoring and tracking project costs and schedules, including the preparation of monthly project reports
  • Ensuring quality assurance processes are maintained and contractor deliverables meet project scope requirements
  • Managing testing, commissioning, and performance verification activities, supported by comprehensive documentation
  • Driving project outcomes while maintaining compliance with relevant safety, technical, and operational standards
About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
  • Proven experience in Project Management within mining, heavy industry, or industrial environments
  • A Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in mining or bulk materials handling industries
  • Strong experience with industrial electrical and control systems, preferably within mining operations
  • Design experience across HV and LV power distribution systems, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and rotor starter systems
  • Experience with PLC and SCADA systems, including Schneider, GE, and Wonderware platforms
  • Working knowledge of power system analysis software such as ETAP, PSCAD, and PowerFactory
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Sound understanding of relevant Australian Standards and Rio Tinto standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment
