Chandler Macleod is currently recruiting multiple Policy Officers for a Federal Government opportunity supporting critical policy and reform initiatives. This role is a full time labour hire contract looing to start ASAP until December 2026, this position ideally will be based out of Geelong Vic., Richmond Vic. but other locations nationally can be considered for suitable candidates. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful government policy work.

 About the Role In this role, you will contribute to complex policy development and reform initiatives aligned with strategic government priorities. You will provide high-quality advice, undertake detailed policy analysis, and support the delivery of key projects.

 Key Responsibilities
  • Develop contemporary policy, strategies, and projects
  • Undertake complex policy analysis, development, and implementation
  • Prepare and review high-quality policy documents, reports, briefings, and correspondence
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Design and lead engagement activities and consultation processes
  • Use data and technical inputs to inform recommendations
  • Contribute to governance frameworks and decision-making processes
  • Support delivery of reform projects in line with organisational priorities
 Essential Experience & Skills
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic policy development
  • Experience delivering policy reform, programs, or projects
  • Strong understanding of legislation and policy frameworks
  • Experience in strategic commissioning
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication (government style preferred)
  • Proven ability to interpret data and prepare complex policy outputs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with limited direction
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
 Desirable
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPR)
  • Experience working in government or large public sector environments
