Chandler Macleod is seeking an experienced Scheduler / Planner to join Rio Tinto's Gove Closure Team on a 12-month contract, with the potential for extension.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in one of Rio Tinto's major closure programs, supporting the planning and delivery of complex end-of-mine and rehabilitation activities. Working within a highly collaborative environment, you will partner with stakeholders across multiple disciplines to develop integrated schedules, provide project controls support and help drive successful project outcomes.

This role would suit someone who enjoys asking questions, challenging assumptions, building strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring schedules are robust, accurate and fit for purpose.
About the Role
Working within the Closure Program team, you will be responsible for coordinating, developing and maintaining integrated schedules across a portfolio of closure activities. You'll work closely with project teams, technical specialists and key stakeholders to ensure project plans are aligned, achievable and accurately reflect program priorities.
A key focus of the role will be building upon existing schedules, identifying risks and dependencies, challenging inputs where required and ensuring stakeholders remain aligned to critical project milestones.
Rio Tinto offers flexibility in how this position can be worked, with several arrangements available:
FIFO | Brisbane, Darwin or Cairns
- FIFO available from Brisbane, Darwin and Cairns
- 9-day fortnight roster
- Monday to Friday roster with every second Friday off
- Work from Rio Tinto's Brisbane office
- Regular travel to site as required (approximately one week per month)
- Monday to Friday roster
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, develop and maintain integrated program schedules, ensuring alignment across workstreams and closure milestones
- Build upon and maintain existing schedules while incorporating new project inputs and priorities
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops to define key activities, dependencies, interfaces and durations
- Collaborate with Project Controls to provide strategic direction on scheduling approaches and integration
- Support portfolio-level scheduling across a complex closure program
- Maintain a centralised scheduling environment that reflects project status, risks and critical path impacts
- Review, validate and challenge schedule assumptions and logic where required
- Identify opportunities to improve scheduling standards, practices and methodologies
- Coordinate, develop and maintain the Gove Program Dashboard
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across multiple disciplines to support successful project delivery
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven scheduling and planning experience
- Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 is essential
- Experience within project controls, planning or scheduling functions
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain integrated project schedules
- Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
- Ability to identify schedule risks, dependencies and critical path impacts
- Confidence to ask the right questions and challenge schedules constructively
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Mining, resources, infrastructure or major project experience will be highly regarded
