Reporting to the Specialist Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for managing projects across the full lifecycle — from opportunity identification and study phases through to execution, commissioning, and handover. You will oversee scope, cost, schedule, and risk while coordinating consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive project execution plans.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage and coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Budget & Cost Management: Monitor and control project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures.
- Schedule Management: Manage timelines and milestones to ensure on-time delivery.
- Scope Management: Define and control project scope throughout execution.
- Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Ensure all deliverables meet required quality standards.
- HSE Compliance: Promote and implement health, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Commercial Management: Manage contracts and commercial relationships with vendors and contractors.
- Communication & Reporting: Provide regular progress updates to the Project Superintendent and stakeholders.
- Change Management: Evaluate and manage scope changes effectively.
- Continuous Improvement: Capture lessons learned and drive ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Reporting: Contribute to project reporting on cost, schedule, and performance metrics.
- Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer.
- Proven experience delivering capital projects within mining, resources, processing, or heavy industry environments.
- Strong project management capability across scope, cost, schedule, risk, and stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets, forecasting, and reporting.
- Experience leading contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of project outcomes.
- Willingness to undertake occasional site travel to support project delivery.
- Experience within mining, processing, ports, or bulk materials handling sectors.
- Background in working with engineering consultants and reviewing technical deliverables.
- Understanding of constructability, maintainability, and operational readiness.
- Exposure to equipment such as conveyors, transfer chutes, crushing, screening, or materials handling systems.
- Brownfield project delivery experience within operating assets.
