Are you a qualified Maintenance Fitter looking for a hands-on role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We are seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team based in Laverton.
This is an excellent opportunity to work across a large food production facility, ensuring plant and equipment operate safely and efficiently while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency and safety of our production equipment across the Laverton site. Working within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for both preventative and breakdown maintenance, ensuring production downtime is minimised and operational targets are achieved.
This is a hands-on position suited to a mechanically minded tradesperson who enjoys fault-finding, problem-solving and working with a variety of automated processing equipment. You'll collaborate closely with production teams, electricians, contractors and site leadership to maintain equipment performance and drive continuous improvement across the facility
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical breakdowns in a timely manner.
- Conduct safety inspections and equipment checks.
- Support continuous improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
- Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and specifications.
- Complete maintenance records and schedules accurately.
- Work collaboratively with production teams, electricians, contractors and site management.
- Participate in the on-call breakdown roster as required.
- Maintain compliance with all WHS, food safety, quality and environmental standards.
- Mechanical Trade Qualification (Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter or equivalent).
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, food processing or production environment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritise workloads.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-focused approach.
- Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
- Forklift licence (advantageous).
- Welding experience (MMAW/GTAW preferred).
